A SALUTE TO THE SUN: Juried Theme Exhibition
July 4 – September 7, 2008
SUBJECT MATTER: Works in all media (paintings, sculpture, drawings, etc.,) featuring and/or including the image or effect of the sun.
ELIGIBILITY: All current 2008 Artist Members are invited to submit works for the jury’s consideration. If you have not yet joined in the last 12 months, you will find a membership form enclosed.
DATES: All paintings to be juried must be delivered to the Gallery between Friday, June 27 and Sunday, June 29. All paintings to be juried must be shipped to the Gallery in order to be received by Friday, June 27. Exhibition will open to the public on Friday, July 4, 2008. A reception for the artists will take place the following weekend, on Sunday, July 13, 3 – 5 PM, combined with the opening of the gallery’s annual Land and Light exhibition. You will receive an invitation with details separately.
The exhibition will run until September 7, 2008. Local artists must pick up their artwork from the gallery on the last day of the exhibit, Sunday, September 7or Monday, September 8. Artists outside the local area should make arrangements with the gallery for the return shipping of their artwork at the artist’s expense.
SPECIFICATIONS: You may submit a maximum of two works of art for this show, not previously shown at Bryan Gallery. All media will be considered by the jury. Artwork must be suitably framed, with hanging cable installed on the backs of the paintings. If appropriate, sculpture and ceramics must have their own display pedestals (beyond tables available at the gallery.) There is no limit on size. However, please make arrangements with the Gallery in advance if you plan to deliver artwork that is especially large or fragile.
TAGS: Artists must attach tags provided to the back of the work, including NAME, TITLE OF PAINTING, IMAGE DIMENSIONS (HEIGHT X WIDTH, EXCLUDING MAT AND FRAME,) MEDIUM AND PRICE. Please use the enclosed tags for labeling, and please have your artwork labeled in advance of bringing it into the gallery.
RECEIPT FORM: Artists must complete and sign the Painting Receipt Form, and make a copy for yourself BEFORE DELIVERING YOUR WORK TO THE GALLERY. The Painting Receipt Form can be downloaded from www.bryangallery.org.
SALES: All works of art must be available for sale. Should your work sell, a commission of 40% will go to support the non-profit Gallery and help defray costs of the exhibition. Please price your works realistically, no higher than you have been receiving consistently for your work.
INSURANCE While all due care will be taken with your artwork, neither the Bryan Memorial Gallery nor the
AND LIABILITY: Bryan Foundation will assume any liability for loss or damage, however caused. Artists are encouraged to provide their own insurance on artwork in transit and during the exhibition. Submission of artwork constitutes acceptance of all conditions and terms stated in this prospectus.
JURY PROCESS: A team of seasoned jurors, will jury this exhibition, and their decisions will be final. Following the jury, a jury postcard will be mailed to you, informing you of the jury’s decision. Please address and fill in your jury postcard before delivering your work to the gallery.
